RegAlert originally developed a driver identification system with the advice and assis-tance of emergency medical services (EMS) staff (paramedics) from various South African organisations. The RegAlert system is therefore essentially a medical identification system developed by paramedics for paramedics. With this in mind, we also decided to allow paramedics and their immediate families free membership in order to reward them for their hard work.

Who can benefit from RegAlert's emergency services?
Everyone can benefit from allowing paramedics to have immediate access to their vital information, but certain medical conditions can mean that you need special treatment from the paramedics on a scene of a medical emergency, whether it is a motor vehicle accident or in the case of any other kind of emergency. Examples of such conditions include the following:
- Allergies to certain foods
- Allergies to medication
- Asthma
- Autism
- Bleeding or clotting disorders
- Blood pressure problems
- Cancer
- Diabetes
- Epilepsy
- Heart conditions & pacemakers
- Liver or kidney diseases
- Memory loss, dementia, Alzheimer's
- Inability to communicate for whatever reason
There are many other conditions not mentioned here that could possibly influence your treatment and which paramedics (as well as the doctors in the emergency room) may need to know of to efficiently help you.
Because when your life is at stake, each and every second counts.
Other important benefits of RegAlert's emergency services:
Other reasons why you should invest in RegAlert membership for yourself and your loved ones:
- What if you get hijacked, shot and left for dead? Your phone and wallet will very likely be gone and you'll probably be unable to communicate. Sometimes when you are involved in an accident, your wallet and/or mobile phone may get lost or stolen. Nobody will know who you are or where you're from... RegAlert does not rely on any of these.
- Allowing paramedics immediate access to your information saves valuable time when paramedics are busy determining your treatment.
- RegAlert stores and allows you or any emergency medical staff to retrieve your vital information from anywhere in South Africa, irrespective of which emergency services provider attends to your emergency or which medical aid institution you belong to (should you have medical aid).
- Ensuring that paramedics and ambulance services staff know that you have a medical aid will prevent a case where you are taken to a state hospital which may not have the resources to give you the best care possible.
- RegAlert will contact your loved ones, make them aware of what happened to you, keep them informed of the situation and ensure that they know to which hospital you are being taken.
- RegAlert will keep any special or religious requirements you may have on file, so that medical staff may be notified of them and your wishes obeyed.
- The RegAlert Call Centre is available to members 24 hours a day, so that you can call us to help with your emergencies whenever you need to.
- You do not have to belong to a medical aid in order to use our services, and RegAlert remains unaffiliated with emergency service providers, ensuring that all emergency services personnel have access to this system.

What makes RegAlert's identification system different?
The RegAlert system was originally developed because there were certain functions that were not fulfilled by other systems on the market at the time. [ more ]
RegAlert is in essence a medical emergency service developed by paramedics for use by paramedics. This is extremely important, because it is the paramedics who are the ones who will be using the system.
Our technology partner, BPO Med, has many years of strong healthcare experience in its specialist team, so you can rest assured that we have an excellent system in place to support our mission.
Bracelets come in a range of different styles to suit different tastes. The bracelets have been marked with a distinctive yet unobtrusive RegAlert logo design, making them easily identifiable without making them look ugly or clumsy.
Because of the unique unobtrusive logo marking, the bracelets can be customised by engraving, for example, the wearer's name or, in the case of a company the company logo.
Because we are not affiliated with any specific medical aid or emergency service provider, all paramedics have access to the system in case of an emergency.
We constantly work on creating (and also maintaining) awareness of all our services among paramedics to ensure they know about it, providing you with the best value.
We also make sure that we continuously have contact with paramedics, as well as the public so that we don't loose touch with the paramedics who we want to help, and our members.
RegAlert believes in rewarding paramedics for their hard work by allowing all para-medics and their immediate families free RegAlert membership.
Since we know that the first minutes and seconds are crucial, we select partners who can help us to bring you the best, fastest service.
